Cumulative Cases
Active Cases is defined as the Cumulative Total - Presumed Recovered on each date that it is reported. It also takes into account Deaths happening daily. Presumed Recovered data started on 5/20.
Toggle Datasets: Total Cases / Active Cases

New Cases Per Day
Currently this chart is showing new cases per day in two ways. 1) Bamatracker tracks the change in the cumulative case amount from midnight to 11:59pm each day. 2) ADPH tracks the new case counts each day differently, normally within a few cases to what we show. You can see both new case lines are pretty close, but recently some lag in the data has caused them to not match up. The dark green line is the 7-day rolling average.

NOTE: The spike in new cases on 5/20 is partially due to the ADPH catching up on lagging data from 5/17, 5/18 and 5/19.
NOTE: The drop in new cases on 6/3 is due to ADPH changing their reporting to only 10 am daily instead of multiple updates daily.

Case Growth Per Day
Growth % can vary drastically when the numbers are low and gradually reduce as the cumulative count rises. This chart starts at 4/1 to more clearly show recent changes in growth.

With only a 4% growth, at 19,709 cases there would still be 788 cases added per day and increase as the cumulative amount increases.

Cumulative Tests

Tests Reported Per Day
Tests Reported on 4/25 is 18,703 and is shown as 10,000 to reduce the scale. This makes seeing the change in the 7-day average easier.

Cumulative %Positive Per Day
Based on the running cumulative Total Cases / Total Tests each day. New test counts fluctuate greatly each day, so these percentages are based on the cumulative counts tracked over time. Example: Today would be 19709 / 245311 = 8.03%.

7-Day Avg. %Positive Per Day
This is the 7-day avg amount of new cases divided by 7-day avg new tests reported each day.

Tests Per Positive
How many tests does it take to find 1 positive case? More testing with fewer positive cases is assumed to be an indication of progress. Idea by @twang0518.

14-Day Counts %Positive Per Day
This is the 14-day count of new cases divided by 14-day count of new tests reported each day by ADPH. Data started on 5/18.

Important: As of 6/3/2020 the AL Dept of Public Health began updating their numbers at 10 am once a day. The change in the table below as of 6/3 most likely indicates an increase in counts for the previous day.
